June 15, 2008: Dr. Lowe (Director of Research) and Jackie Yellin (Director of Education) publish a review of the evidence that too little thyroid hormone regulation is the main underlying mechanism of most patients' fibromyalgia (pdf version of the full text is available at Thyroid Science to print and/or download free of charge).

March 21, 2008: Audio Interview with Dr. John C. Lowe Available for Listening at No  Cost (70 minutes long). In early, March, 2008, Dr. Lowe was interviewed on "Embracing Health," the Internet talk show of Australian naturopath Leisa Wheeler. At the time, Wheeler was consultant naturopath to the Hippocrates Health Centre.

Opening the interview, Wheeler asked Dr. Lowe for an overview of fibromyalgia. His overview led into discussion of several issues of importance to fibromyalgia: the relation of fibromyalgia to too little thyroid hormone regulation, limitations of the TSH test, the historical events that lead to the abuse of patients through the unwarranted use of the TSH, the commercial rather than scientific basis of the widespread use of the TSH test, the ineffectiveness and harm of T4 replacement. Dr. Lowe also talked about his advocacy of natural medicine and naturopathic physicians; the practicality of a trial of thyroid hormone other than T4 replacement for fibromyalgia patients; and the injustice of medical boards persecuting alternative thyroid doctors while ignoring the harm, including death, to patients through conventional pharmaceutical drugs prescribed by doctors. Their discussion them moved to the topic of proper treatment involving natural medicine and the necessity of health-promoting and health-maintaining lifestyle practices. Dr. Lowe commented after the interview, "Naturopaths have long taught us the importance of such practices, and I especially enjoyed discussing these with Leisa Wheeler.
